THE MISSION
From Pie Labs workshops to an open curriculum.
Mechatronics With Pie grew out of Pie Labs—internal workshops run for developers who could ship software but stalled when a feature depended on hardware: wiring, drivers, protocols, power, and bring-up.
There was no shortage of web and app content, but practical hardware education was either expensive, fragmented, or buried in datasheets and forum threads. We built the courses we wished we'd had: structured, project-based, and grounded in what actually fails on the bench.
That training is now an open platform—a library for engineers who want to move from idea to working hardware with less guesswork and more repeatable engineering.

ORIGIN
Our Story
Founded by Edward Pie—a hardware and electronics engineer with deep experience in software and AI engineering—Mechatronics With Pie began as Pie Labs internal workshops for developers who understood code and models but struggled when a feature depended on the physical stack: schematics, sensors, actuators, and reliable integration.
We kept seeing the same gap in public education: plenty of paths into software and AI, far fewer that teach you to read a datasheet, choose a driver, scope a bus, or close the loop between intelligent software and hardware that actually behaves.
What started inside Pie Labs is now an open platform. Our learners range from makers prototyping their first connected sensor to professionals sharpening integration on the job. We're still early on this site, but the goal hasn't changed: less guesswork, more repeatable engineering across hardware, electronics, software, and AI.
